Thank you Roger. Yes partly it's about empathy. It's a bit of a rarity in our days. Also this is a reflection about those who even though there is room and space, they never reach out to enjoy or take what's their's to have. Take care!
Guess, I didn't get it. I enjoy poetry and play with it, myself, though I'm no poet and often struggle to understand what I read. I'm also someone with a tendency to give rather than take - no, that's not a self-praise thing, just who I am - for what I see in the World today is: take - take - take and to hell with who you affect.
Having said that, here's the irony: Take care. Stay safe. ☮️
No two readers will see or read it the same. That’s the way it goes sometimes and that’s the beauty of poetry and anything creative. If it inspires you on to see something new or different there’s no wrong in that. I share your state of the world affairs as is now… loads of taking! Peace and thank you for sharing!
When I read this in the email I thought of a fly at the end of a day in a market... and then I read it here and felt the chill disapproval of a vagrant seeking repentance in the clinical concrete gothic of that church interior...
The specificity of this is shocking. The fly at the end of the day in a market. I can see that even though that's not where I'd been nor where I thought of going until reading this comment. It applies. Then again I write and find some random picture to go with it and only because of the high ceilings in the photo instantly you get another layer added on to the poem that might not had been there with another high ceiling interior. Thank you Opti!
"lost to the tides of opinion" so good, as we are most certainly being lost in such these days. I wish more and more that the old saying that my grandparents were so fond of would come back, "keep your opinions to yourself, lad." Great poem, SE.
Am sure the grandparents had some opinions there. Did they use that on you as well? Hahahahaha, sorry had to ask. Thank you for checking this out, House. Much appreciated.
Yes. Empathy for those who don't or rarely receive it.
Thank you.
Take care. Stay safe. ☮️

I appreciate your words. Thank you for your understanding and kindness - but what else could I expect from a poet? Take care. Stay safe. ☮️

Oh yes, despite saying that they always seemed to have plenty of opinions on just about everything. But they always got the grandparent pass.
Was just going to say! Grandparents have loads of opinions! :)
