That’s what we all need and some love and turns out ZZ top need it too! hahahahahaha I thought it was a hilarious title and wanted it repeated because of that too.
Aw thank you Treasa! It's been a pleasure. I love reading these poems you come up with. Stay tunes, we're rounding up this challenge in the next few days with a little activity for us all to do each of the rest days of May. I keep my events mostly free and the same for posts. If anyone wants to pay the option for paid subscription is there. No pressure!

So as today is the final letter, I thought I'd do something special, and actually attempt to do a poem, only using the song titles, like you've all been doing so amazingly well. As I already did The Smashing Pumpkins earlier in the Event, I thought it would be fun to do Zwan as well. So here it is. It's a bit short. But then, they did only do one album! Haha...
Hey, following the rule one day and breaking them the other 25 days, what do we call that? Freedom! Hahahahhahaha Love it Chris. It's an honour having you here and gracing us with a poem! You do your poet self proud here! THANK YOU!
They moved the moon... that line got me. I have a friend who told me that last year in all honesty. And we tried working out where the moon comes out in broad day light like moon mappers! Hahahahahhahaha It was a serious conversation, on the corner of the road, four of us. And there's a song about that? ok I better listen! I know these songs, never ever heard of the artist's name. Thank you man of aran. One point and I've said this to Jonathan in the past too... why are you numbering the stanzas? And.... have they moved the moon?
Ah, the numbers are meant to indicate that they can stand alone, or should be read independently, like a series of haiku with the same last line. That's the theory anyway. Yes, even at my advanced age, I still feel just a tad startled when I see the moon in the day sky. 'They moved the moon' as a line is just so rich in potential meanings. Speaking of age, the fact that you don't know Zevon definitely ages me. His monster hit from the 70s was Werewolves of London. But I highly recommend the beautiful Keep Me in Your Heart.
I know of his songs, just never heard the name mentioned… I find your poems really beautiful and the numbers break them apart or stand in the way for the words. But that’s just me! I hope I’m not moving any moons here :)
[ Preface: I couldnt figure out anything for X or Y. It just didn't work for me, but Z did. I woke up at 5:30 a.m. from a dream and in that half awake half asleep state, thought of being a bartender, serving ZZ Top and picking up snippets of conversation. ]
That's a very clever idea. Excellent work. And just as a fun little aside, 'She's Just Killing Me' was used in the movie 'From Dusk Till Dawn'. That is a fantastic little Horror movie that's been hugely influential to me ever since it came out... 😎
Wow! Zappa of course! Great one Darienne, this is just fabulous. Commentary on the world we live in on so many levels and layers! Cosmic debris and device for lonely people!

Been going back and filling in my gaps. Did Laura Marling for "L" and Kim Gordon (from Sonic Youth - had to get some SY in here somewhere), for "K". And finally, Warren Zevon for "Z". Whew!
His song titles and lyrics are pure treasure. Thank you for this! As I wrote on man of aran's poem as well, I didn't know of his name. I know some of the songs well but never heard of his name. Great poem!
Very good. It's a shame most people only know 'Werewolves of London', and possibly 'Things To Do In Denver When You're Dead', because his catalogue is full of absolute gems... 😎
This was a truly awesome challenge! I’m still hoping to double back and do a few more. Thanks for making this happen :-). I loved reading everyone’s offerings.
Good stuff, love the song! Is it a Brazilian artist? Love the bilingual holiday I was gonna write, but mean poetry but am listening to Tom Zé! Brilliant Fotini!
Never heard of him… And we have Brazilians in the family. I will have a word! Amazing stuff! I bet he’s not singing about the fluffy clouds all the time!
So yes, I did post a poem earlier, but I do have a story for today, too. This has been such a great challenge and I've really enjoyed spending time with you all this month and reading your lovely work. We made it to the last letter! Well done everyone...
ZZ TOP
I'd JUST GOT PAID, and I'd decided to buy a gorgeous CHEVROLET convertible I'd seen for sale. It was a 1960 Corvette model in a stunning shade of CHERRY RED, that a disgruntled wife was trying to get rid of at a bargain price to teach her husband a lesson.
I was planning to drive around LA, along Santa Monica Boulevard, in my CHEAP SUNGLASSES, with the roof down, and feel like a movie star.
It was going to be my pride and joy.
Until FRANCINE took it for a spin, with her veins full of CHARTREUSE.
She broke both her LEGS, but more importantly, she broke my heart, when I saw the state of the car.
CONCRETE AND STEEL do not get along well with each other when they collide at speed, and my dreams of a PLANET OF WOMEN swooning over my shiny paintwork and begging me for a ride were gone.
Because I was going to be an OLD MAN before I could ever afford the repairs... 😎
Another ZZ Top today! This blends well into the characters from ZZ top! Good one Chris and well done for being here for all 26 letters! And you also did a poem today! I mean my hat goes off! Thank you, it’s been a true joy reading your stories and there’s more for the rest of the month too so stay tuned! Thank you for being here!
It's been a pleasure to be here, as I say. I'm glad you've enjoyed the stories. And thank you to you as well, for running the Event so well and for making it all so fun and interesting to take part in... 😎
Haha! Thanks. I'm really pleased I managed to get something done for all 26. It's amazing to think we've been working on this for over four weeks now. It's gone really quickly, and I've loved every minute of it... 😎
Haha! I just realised it's like the Prince song. 'Little Red Corvette'. That's fun. He may still be able to resurrect it. But it's going to cost a lot of dough... 😎
Thanks! My little poem. I'm glad that was an enjoyable surprise. You're absolutely right. These Events are a huge motivation for everyone. And we had fun exploring a new art form. It's been an amazing month! 😎
Congrats to everyone who's made it this far! What an amazing job everyone has done - so many great poems!!!!! So many lovely conversations!! So here's a little something extra to celebrate the final day. I screen-recorded myself writing one of the final Song Title poems, live and unedited, cause I thought it might be interesting. I dunno if it will be to anyone else, but here's me writing the one for Laura Marling from "Day L", with Laura on the soundtrack: https://forgottenpoets.substack.com/p/stone-songs-for-laura-marling?initial_medium=video
WOW! A tribute to the song title poetry, forgotten poets, forgotten musicians and most of all your craftmanship! I can’t believe you made a video of this. Thank you so much!
Aw, thanks so much to you too Pilgrim - really glad you dig the idea!!! Yeah, I had the software for something else, and so it occurred to me, why not record the writing process. Since these are quite self-contained projects as well. Plus I was really interested in hearing about everyone else's processes! Is it anywhere near to what I do? Or do other people do it entirely differently? I could not do it from memory, for instance - I just don't retain that kind of information, so Wikipedia was very useful haha. So yeah - if anyone else feels like sharing some of their process - I'd love to hear about it, either here in the comments, or over on the comments on the video. Wherever. :-)
For some strange reason I see that the original post for the May challenge poems, the first one has been changed... and I also see that the posts ready for the rest of the month are gone. I had them all planned and scheduled. Not sure I'll have time to do them again. Damn... but one of the posts is about what we've enjoyed, what we take away from this and in there we can definitely talk about processes because I find that quite revealing myself. How we use this to write or create, or may not create. So you're tapping into what I'd planned but sadly all those posts are gone. I will reboot and see if they pop up.
I found the ones for the next three days... So that's all good! But the original post on 1 May has lost the titles and links as I had it all laid out for the month. I won't have the time to put the links up and sort that now. Will focus on creating two more posts instead for 30 and 31 May.
Glad to hear it didn't all vanish! Bummer about the links. Wish I could help out? Best of luck doing the posts. Plus - we're all pretty chatty people so I am sure you can keep them real simple, if that helps save some time!
I have not figured out what went wrong really. I had it written, you don't need to save, it autosaves. But none of the links work. But it stays as a flaw now. All posts for rest of the month sorted. That's the main thing.
Wow this is a long train of imaginary poets. How did you come up with names and where are they from? Why imaginary and why connected to a Zoo train? These are things I'd like to hear about to connect to this piece more. I can see the train and the station connection, I've written some train poems too, not in this challenge, so I see that but am curious about Japanese imaginary poets Gloria! :)))
How did you come up with the names, and where are they from?
I used an online name generator for inspiration.
Why did you choose imaginary poets, and what’s the connection to a Zoo train?
I envisioned a Zoo Station where animals are dropped off en route to their new habitats. The imaginary Haiku poets work at the station and spend their evenings in friendly Haiku competitions.
Did you write a poem? I couldn't find it. It's a link leading to google and I don't usually get to open docs on google. You're welcome to post your piece on here if you wish. TIA.
I thought it was Amy's too but its actually by The Zutons. Amy was a big fan of theirs, her hairstyle is even like the Valerie character in that music video.
I thought it was a Zuton… I remember that song coming on and thinking I know this from before. Of course Amy made it a much bigger hit.. so people forget the Zutons. I hadn’t realised the hair bit.

That's very nice the repetition of 'I Gotsa Get Paid'. It works very well... 😎
That’s what we all need and some love and turns out ZZ top need it too! hahahahahaha I thought it was a hilarious title and wanted it repeated because of that too.
You deserve to get paid after all the work you put into this challenge. Thanks so much for bringing us all together.
Aw thank you Treasa! It's been a pleasure. I love reading these poems you come up with. Nice - love the declarative simplicity of it. Sometimes that's exactly what a poem needs.
Thanks! I had fun putting it together. I'm glad you enjoyed it... 😎
Hey, what else is there? Good one.
I know what else?
Well, I may explore poetry a little more after this. You never know... 😎
Thanks! I thought I'd have a go on the last day, and actually follow the rules of the Challenge for once! Haha. I'm glad you enjoyed it... 😎
Hey, following the rule one day and breaking them the other 25 days, what do we call that? Freedom! Hahahahhahaha Love it Chris. It's an honour having you here and gracing us with a poem! You do your poet self proud here! THANK YOU!
Thanks! That is very kind. It's been wonderful being here. I thought I'd save a little surprise for the end. I'm glad you enjoyed it... 😎
How do I go back the 'baby let's rock.' I'm done with the 'settle down.'
Haha! 😎
Yeah, Chris!

Moved me.
Fantastic. Love Warren Zevon. So many memories there. A true songwriting genius... 😎
And another one on the so called 56 club Chris...
Absolutely. He's in the 56 Club. Another songwriting genius gone too soon... 😎
Definitely…
Great stuff! I'm doing Zevon today as well. Been waiting for it haha.
Also - love the refrain throughout - works so well.
Looking forward to it!
I want to work on the moon movers van. Where do I apply?

Oh, man, this is absolutely gorgeous! 🖤
Keep me in your heart. ❤️

Zevon himself would have loved this!🙌🏻💖

Good stuff, love the song! Is it a Brazilian artist? Love the bilingual holiday I was gonna write, but mean poetry but am listening to Tom Zé! Brilliant Fotini!
Thanks, Pilgrim! Tom Zé is quite a phenomenal figure of Brazil's music history.
Never heard of him… And we have Brazilians in the family. I will have a word! Amazing stuff! I bet he’s not singing about the fluffy clouds all the time!
He has his own style and an unorthodox approach to melody and instrumentation, but his has a bit for everything.
Thank you yet again for another introduction.
At your service!
What a climax on the last day.
Ohh and the song is amazing too! Gotta listen to some more Tom Zé obviously!
Tom Zé is damn good!
So I am learning! Love it.

Thanks! Thanks!

Thanks! I'm really pleased I managed to finish all 26. Especially as I only usually post longer stories two or three times a month on here! Haha... 😎
It’s more fun when in company I guess! And a challenge pushes you! Well done… especially as it got a poem out of you as well! :)
Thanks! My little poem. I'm glad that was an enjoyable surprise. You're absolutely right. These Events are a huge motivation for everyone. And we had fun exploring a new art form. It's been an amazing month! 😎

*my imaginary poets
Amazing stuff Gloria! You set up a whole role play on this one, all in a poem. Thank you!
That's a very creative idea. So it's the imaginary writers and descriptions of the styles they write in. Very nice... 😎
Way to go, Gloria!

Did you write a poem? I couldn't find it. It's a link leading to google and I don't usually get to open docs on google. You're welcome to post your piece on here if you wish. TIA.
Thank you for the fun, frivolous merry Month of May via song titles.

This wonderful! Valerie of course was this were Amy got it from? Great piece Treasa!
Oh, yes, The Zutons! I love that you came up with their songs today, Treasa!
Was hoping to make it more uplifting for the last day but this is where the poem went. Thanks Fotini.
You being here lifts our spirits!
You can't mess with a poem's will...
