This is beautiful! I don't recognise many of these titles but I recently heard a song on the radio and my mind went straight to him and guess what? It was Howard Jones! He has his own style for sure. Thank you for this 80s vibe Tali!
I didn't know all these songs either, but have always had a few of his in my playlist. Since English is not my first language, it was funny to note that when I was a kid, I liked his music for the sound of it, of his voice. Now I love his music for what he says, the message it carries, the wisdom behind it, and how it syncs with my own outlook on life.
I am for now staying with fierce queer or female artists that for a group of people made a difference. I didn't know Hayley Kiyoko before this challenge. She is named by some "“Lesbian Jesus” of Gen Z pop" and as there aren't that many out Lesbians there, this is a tribute to her.
I chose for today one of the most philosophical artists ever, and definitely of the 80's -- Howard Jones.
Don't always look at the rain-
Things can only get better.
No one is to blame.
Hunt the self-
Hide and seek.
What is love?
Natural
Equality.
Pearl in the shell.
Always asking questions.
Bounce right back!
Stay with me,
The one to love you.
Angels and lovers
Formed by the stars.
The human touch-
Revolution of the heart.

Met Howard once, many moons ago - a very sweet guy! He would love this poem, Tali.
Awwww!
How sweet! I had that impression of him, based on his lyrics. I find a lot of strength in them.

...are you watching me, Lenn? ;)

The dark & light in this poem reflects her music perfectly.
John Hartford
Trying to do something to get your attention
With a vamp in the middle
********
Granny wontcha smoke some marijuana
Untangle your mind
Goin' back to Dixie
Before they tow my car
Living in the Mississippi Valley
Long hot summer days
Skippin' in the Mississippi dew
In plain view of the town
Nobody eats at Linebaugh's anymore
Nobody knows what you do
You don't have to do that
Why do you do me like you do?
********
Station break
********
Steam powered aereo plane
Steamboat whistle blues
California earthquake
Right in the middle of falling for you
In tall buildings
All fall down
I shoulda wore my birthday suit
Naked in spite of myself
Don’t ever take your eyes off the game, babe
Don't leave your records in the sun
Go fall asleep now
Here’s to your dreams
Amazing! Listening to John Hartford now to get his stories the right way! Thanks Gordon!
Incredible! Great poem, and great storytelling! 😎👍
'calafornia earthquake right in the middle of falling for you,' I want a whole book dedicated to this character!
That would have been a great Tim Robbins novel
"Don't leave your records in the sun!!!"
Did that to a '45 once and never forgave myself, was so distressed to see it all warped and wobbly on the deck.
Great poem Gordon!

One Life Stand is a great title! Didn't know that one. Thank you Treasa!
That fits together beautifully... 😎👍
Huey Lewis because my brother loved Huey Lewis and The News:
Back in time
1000 years from now
Don't fight it
Don't look back
If this is it
Simple as that
The power of love
Naturally
When the time has come
When I write the book
I ain't perfect
Don't look back

HUEY LEWIS AND THE NEWS (Poem)
I WANT A NEW DRUG,
I WANT YOU, NATURALLY,
HEART AND SOUL,
I KNOW WHAT I LIKE,
WE SHOULD BE MAKING LOVE,
SIMPLE AS THAT... 😎

Clap your hands

Kinky Afro
Bobs yer Uncle
Rave on
Angels and whores
Do it better

Hothouse Flowers bring back some fun memories. Great little Irish band. Loved your take on them!
