It was in one of our chats in the comments section of Title song challenge that I discovered George Michael had an obsession with insects as a kid. So you kicked this one off.
I wasn't going to say anything... But that's exactly where my mind went. He bumped his head and that was the end of insect obsession and start to music creation. You should keep a copy of this and make your own post.
Your parents lived a few roads away from my senior school.
You were 'THE' teen heart throb of the mid 80's.
One flick of your loose Grecian curls, had girls screaming!
One croon of Careless Whispers had them jumping up & down like epileptic grasshoppers, frantically waving your latest photo found in Smash Hits magazine.
You were Truly a Pop Icon!
I appreciated you later in life,
when I saw you evolve to hold your own,
in the classic duets of the 90's with Mary J Blige and others.
"Just As Hate Knows Loves the Cure, You Can Rest Your Mind Assured,
This had me smiling! Love the collaboration with Mary J Blige. They did that song justice and I prefer their version than the original. Laughing at the grasshopper reference! Thank you for this!
My mum looks just like George Michael's love interest in the music video for Last Christmas.
We always liked to watch it together at christmas but since he died it has always felt too sad. Perhaps time to revive the tradition....
I heard a story on the radio just after he died, about him tipping a waitress £5000 pounds because she had mentioned she was putting herself through nursing school. He also anonymously paid for another woman to go through IVF and have a baby after years of struggling to conceive.
Lot's of celebrities do philanthropic work and give to good causes, but few do so so discreetly and modestly. He seemed like a good guy.
The love interest of George! That's quite something! That song always bring me joy even though it's a sad one. Wham official on Twitter are looking for people to share their Last Christmas stories, as the song is 40 years old this or next year. He was a genuine philanthropist without making a huge deal about it. I've meet the IVF lady and her child. Thank you for sharing these. I loved the mum connection in this.
Some people think George Michael's music is just frilly and forgettable, but I sure don’t. He created rock and roll pastiches—seriously beautiful music that sticks with you. Whenever I hear one of his songs, I'm transported back to different moments in my life, almost like flipping through an old photo album.
While recording the "Faith" album and his later solo work, George had this unique way of doing things. He'd write his lyrics right in front of the mic, building the lead vocal one line at a time. Reread that. Right in front of everybody he would write lyrics. On the spot. I’m gobsmacked by that unique kind of talent.
He'd have the tape rewound over and over, dropping in lyrics at just the right spots to nail the emotional effect he wanted. It's amazing to think about the care and precision he put into every single track.
If you think about your life and music they intersect. Details woven together by verse. Whether it’s an old Baptist hymn or a disco dance tune by George Michael they echo in your heart.
Mr Michael
It is Mr Michaels birthday
Back at school
Our teacher is a fan
Of this Mr Michael
Cooling the air around him
And keeping his memory alive
As if he is here
And so memories explode
Why because
He never really left all
Those hearts and minds
You loved his music
His energy his heart too
So once a while
Years back
There I am in a night club
I am an extra
In the rented crowd
Fir a pop video “ baby I’m your man”
For
Wham
A camera crew
There was I and there was you
Swirling smoke
Take after take
You ran through
We danced
As you Wham
Dang snd played
We all had a break
got sandwiches
And lemonade
Take one , take two
Run through
The chorus takes off
We
We’re excited
To be part of
Mr Michaels
Memory

It is George Michaels birthday. Share a memory

To have been in that recording… That’s quite an experience. Thank you for sharing!
Bug Catcher
.
Wooly jumper pulled over pj’s,
I slip through the bedroom window.
5am brushes goosebumps on my skin.
Look! A moth flits the path of
last night's fickle moonlight.
Here! the gorgeous yuck of dirt
between my fingerstips.
The tickle of creepy crawlies
ripples across my forearm.
I am prince of the meadow til
dawn dapples it's wakeup call.
I'll be back tomorrow.
Meet me by the oak tree.
We'll play hide and seek
and I'll count to a gazillion.
Wow! How beautiful is this? A moth and moonlights path, so many images and play with words. Absolutely love this!

He would have celebrated his 61st birthday today.
