Never heard of The Cruzados before—thank you for putting them on my radar. Just reading through these titles, I can already feel the dust of the road and that mix of grit and longing. There’s a whole story flickering through here—Seven Summers, Nine Million Tears, The Strange Face of Love... it’s like a faded polaroid of somewhere between heartbreak and heat.
Makes me want to hop on a motorcycle and disappear into the kind of dusk that smells like gasoline and jasmine.
Happens to the best of us... This song always reminds me of High and Dry by Radiohead. 'Two jumps in a week, I bet you think you're pretty clever, don't you boy?' 'Flying on your motorcycle, watching while the ground beneath you drops. You'd kill yourself for recognition, kill yourself to never-ever stop.'
Wow! Some of these are anthems and you weaved a wonderful love story around the titles. I’ve seen her live in her prime ages ago and she can sing!!! Then the wailing took over a little too much for my liking. These songs stand the test of time. Great piece Wild!
Thank you, Writer Pilgrim. That means a lot coming from you. I love that you’ve seen Celine live—what a presence she must’ve had on stage! I was always more of a fan of her earlier work, especially when she was still releasing songs in French, or bilingual versions in both French and English. There’s something about the French-language songs… they carry a slightly different kind of beauty. A quieter intimacy, maybe.
But I get it—when you’re singing night after night in Vegas, you start catering to that crowd. And those big ballads certainly land in a room like that. Still, I wanted this poem to hold some of that softness from her earlier catalogue—the ache and tenderness that don’t need to shout to be heard.
Thanks again for seeing the story in the titles. That’s what I hoped for: to let them unfold into something tender and true.
Ooh, clever one Jay! I wish I could have seen her in concert, she's got such a voice. Funny to think she won the Eurovision for Switzerland! I think that's how she got her big break. You made the songs into a real little story.
Cesca, thanks, Yes I’ll try to create little stories with those songs which is quite a tricky thing as you well know. And yes I think you are right about her big stage debut. I was always a bit drawn to French singing chanteuses.
This feels like a poem you don’t just read—you move with it. There’s a heartbeat running through every line, and the repetition of Dance, Dance, Dance becomes this kind of spell, like you’re summoning joy from sweat and neon and bass.
And that title—The Sun Ain’t Gonna Shine Anymore—it sets the stage like a curtain lifting on the kind of night you don’t want to end. I felt Clarence’s presence in the beat, the spirit, the uplift. This isn’t just a poem—it’s a mixtape with soul.
Thanks for letting the music speak so loud on the page.
Cesca, The Cure was never quite my thing—maybe I just missed the wave or never leaned into that particular ache—but this poem? This pulled me in. You made their titles feel like a surreal diary entry scrawled on the edge of midnight. There’s wit and loneliness, edge and whimsy, all tangled together. “Jumping Someone Else’s Train” followed by “Forever”? That one hit in a way I didn’t expect.
They were one of my favourites way back when, yet I've never seen them. One of my favourite tracks is A Forest, which I didn't fit in here, but it's such a great song. When I lived in Florence in the very early 80s (at university there) the little cafe downstairs played that album over and over, and whenever I hear it I fly straight back there, to that grotty apartment where I nevertheless had such a great time. I'm glad you liked it. Maybe you will discover the Cure!!!
Well, just for old times's sake, here's a quick story. Haha! Have a great weekend everyone...
COLDPLAY (Story)
We were two SPIES, in TROUBLE.
We should never have tried to pull off such a daring mission during DAYLIGHT.
Although it felt like the ADVENTURE OF A LIFETIME, as we deployed our PARACHUTES high above AMSTERDAM, we were quickly spotted, and locked up in a nearby CHURCH.
It was impossible to TALK our way out of it.
"But I guess EVERYTHING'S NOT LOST", I said to my companion, "Don't they call you THE ESCAPIST?"
He looked at me like I was a complete IDIOT.
"They call me The Landscapist", he said, "I was a gardener before the war."
And just like that, any chance we had of seeing freedom again any time soon, went UP IN FLAMES... 😎
Well, we made it to Day Three without a major rule break. The first two were poems. And to keep with the song title theme, 'Two Out of Three Ain't Bad'. Haha... 😎
This made me giggle! It reminds of the opening sequence of that brilliant classic French film, La Grande Vadrouille, with Louis de Funes and Bourvil! Have you seen it? If not, it's a must, probably even dubbed it should be brilliant. Well done, you!
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I haven't seen that film, but I just checked the synopsis and I see what you mean! Haha! That sounds like a lot of fun... 😎
Lisa, this is so soft and aching—like a letter you find years later in a drawer you’d forgotten. The Carpenters always knew how to wrap longing in melody, and you’ve done the same here with their titles. “Rainy Days and Mondays” as a closing line feels like the perfect sigh—resigned, familiar, tender.
I felt the slow unfolding of a heart in these verses. “Love me for what I am”—that one stopped me. Such a quiet plea, and yet it echoes so loudly for anyone who’s ever felt too much or not quite enough.
Thank you for this. You brought the hush and the heartache in equal measure.
I would recommend starting with Ege Bamyasi or Tago Mago, if you are starting with Can. Those are generally considered to be the best albums from this band.

Never heard of this band! Thank you for the introduction! Love this song title poem Gordon!
Normally I wouldn't do this...but here's a link.

I don't know this band, either, Gordon. Good titles, and good poem!

Any motorcycle title makes me think of Manic street preachers and motorcycle loneliness.
Love it and them and loads more of their music!
Amazing song! One of my anthems🙌🏻
Me too. I think it's motorcycle emptiness... Excellent song.
It is! I mixed up the lyrics
”Under neon loneliness
Motorcycle emptiness” it is.

You're a wizard at these! Fantastic.
He truly is!

Love that early stuff!!! I don’t think anyone attempted a Celine before! It’s all coming back to me is a masterpiece! As are many of these songs!

Btw be mindful how you quote titles within dialogue.
Absolutely! I'm always mindful of the legalities with these ones, as I publish a lot of them on my page, too... 😎👍
Chris!!! 🤣🤣🤣 just tell me one thing… at what point does a ban come in handy?

Was hard to choose tbh😉
I don't know this band, apart from their name, which is probably embarrassing, but the poem you made with the titles is great.
You may know the artists individually… think it’s a country super group. Saw them at a country music award ceremony.
Please check them out, am sure you’ll enjoy their songs💖

These titles were made for this poem! Lovely! We’ve only just begun!
This reminds of school crushes and note passing between girlfriends, and heartache. So lovely!
This poem uses only song titles from the krautrock band Can:
Father Cannot Yell
Vitamin C
Outside My Door
Father Cannot Yell
Halleluwah
Outside My Door
Call Me,
Bring Me Coffee or Tea
...And More:
Mushroom,

Quantum Physics
Oh Yeah
Yes, love this! I better go and listen to this band! Thank you Dylan!
I would recommend starting with Ege Bamyasi or Tago Mago, if you are starting with Can. Those are generally considered to be the best albums from this band.
Thank you for the recommendation!
