(this poem quite literally replicates the lyrics of the song, only the song goes on much longer. Call this, then, a 'found' poem, or if you prefer, plagiarism!)
One afternoon, on a RAINY DAY IN JUNE, while we were SITTING ON MY SOFA, watching one of those FANCY costume dramas she loved so much, LOLA suddenly announced she wanted to move. To a HOUSE IN THE COUNTRY, like the one we were looking at on TV.
She was tired of working in THE VIDEO SHOP, she said, it was a DEAD END STREET, and it had always been one of her DREAMS to have her own ANIMAL FARM.
We were still naive enough in those YOUNG AND INNOCENT DAYS to believe anything was possible, but we were also barely SURVIVING, and I knew it was going to take a very long time to be able to afford something like that on the wages from a NINE TO FIVE.
So I bought her a copy of the book instead. The one by George Orwell.
She had NOTHING TO SAY for a while, she just pulled a FUNNY FACE, but it was obvious I'd gone too far this time.
It was just meant to be a fun, LOW BUDGET placeholder, but she felt I was mocking her ambitions, and ridiculing her vision of SHANGRI-LA.
I had forgotten Dust in the wind, what a gorgeous song, I had no idea of the band either. Now the easy part, what a wonderful poem Jonathan! Absolutely mesmerising how you play the lines. Thank you!

Love this! Takes guts to make a statement!
All aboard the casio keyboard! This is fun fun fun.
I can't stop Trans-Europe Express. I am doomed today - this will go on playing on my mind!
My sympathies. Kraftwerk will do that. : )
Love it. Brilliant! :-)

Truly amazing! Gordon thank you!
Gordon, thank you for introducing me to Kamasi Washington. I am blown away!
Great music! Glad you like! And wow, a band you did not know? Finally! hahahahaha
Busted!!!
Hahaha
That is fantastic. That really is the path to self-discovery. And perhaps enlightenment, too... 😎
Well, I wish I wrote it. But it was actually like a Tetris game. The pieces Kamasi sent down I put into place. They just fit
That's a good way of putting it. Trying to fit these song titles together is a lot like a Tetris game... 😎
Poem captures the essence of Kamasi Washington, whose music I'm just discovering now, thank you..

We'd clearly reached a point of NO RETURN.
And now she thinks I'm the SCUM OF THE EARTH... 😎

Dust in the wind,
how my soul cries out for you.
Don’t open your eyes,
lonely wind.
----
Carry on wayward son,
nobody’s home.
Stay out of trouble —
Angels have fallen.
----
Play the game tonight,
the pilgrimage
down the road,
the devil game.

Fight fire with fire —
Don’t take your love away.
