Chose Queen this week, and like the Kurt Cobain/Nirvana one, wanted to write something in the style of an epitaph, for Freddie. I was such a massive fan from around 10-13, and when he died it was such a sad moment. I got to stay up super late with my parents and watch the Tribute concert for him which was live telecast all over the world, and lots of my fav bands at the time did tributes (Guns n' Roses, Metallica, Def Leppard, etc.) and lots of other musicians who I would eventually become fans of as my tastes matured (Annie Lennox, David Bowie, George Michael, Elton John, etc.). Thanks for all the music Freddie!
Absolutely beautiful. Am pleased you chose Queen and you've written a beautiful piece for Freddie! I remember that concert I remember Annie's outfit and her duet with Bowie and of course George Michael's version of Somebody to Love! Your piece brings back memories.
Thanks so much - good to know I did him a little justice. Omg - yes, Annie’s outfit was amazing! And yeah, I think George Michael surprised everyone - definitely one of the best performances of the night. So good.
Queensryche, top-notch hard rock/metal/progressive band often referred to as a "thinking man's band". Many know the band for the epic album, Operation: Mindcrime and for the hit power ballad/lullaby, "Silent Lucidity". I forego using this song as a title but include 3 sets of others as featured song title pieces. Enjoy!
LAZING ON A SUNDAY AFTERNOON, I suddenly had the idea that I wanted to put on a musical version of 'BRIGHTON ROCK', based on the 2010 movie, with an all female cast of Mods and Rockers.
We quickly put out an ad CALLING ALL GIRLS, and soon had a talented cast assembled who were ready for their TIME TO SHINE.
We were UNDER PRESSURE to make a good return for our investors and ensure the production wasn't a MISFIRE, so we worked THROUGH THE NIGHT for several weeks until we were certain we were going to TEAR IT UP and have STAYING POWER.
But even though we were all united by ONE VISION, there was one thing we had overlooked.
In our quest for authenticity, half the audience passed out on opening night, due to the fumes from the Vespa and Lambretta scooters we had running on stage.
Hopefully, after we've settled the law suits, we'll be able to get the PARTY started once again.
How many Vespas and Lambrettas? People will be asking for their money back. Don't recognize all the tunes here so have some homework to do. Great finish!
Haha! Thanks! Probably about ten scooters or so. Not too many. I mean, 'Miss Saigon' manage to get a helicopter on stage, but this was probably only a small theatre... 😎
Queen Latifah

Fix me, Jesus

Great choice!!!! Love Queen Latifah.
Thank you!
I take a bow!

put out the fire,
it's late!

He didn’t surprise me! I am a huge fan. I was very proud. I remember Brian May’s face as he hits those high notes. Seal of approval right there!
Love that! Yeah, I was a bit young, and so didn't really know him. Blew me away!
beautiful, just perfect.
Aw thanks so much Treasa! ☺️
That's another really great tribute. It's heartbreaking that Freddie and George are both gone now. They had so much more to give... 😎
Cheers Chris. Yeah, agreed! 💜

These are all great - especially love the first one. Has a tanka vibe. Very nice.
Love it! The title alone is a poem in itself.
Welcome Marinarena! Great to have you here and thank you for your song title poem. Great job with Queensryche.
Three great ones there. Very nice... 😎

Because after all, THE SHOW MUST GO ON... 😎
Brilliant. A show to die for, literally!
Haha! Thanks! They definitely needed to pay a lot of compensation out after that performance, for sure... 😎

Long Slow Goodbye

If only
You would know
God is in the radio
Turnin’ on the screw
In my head.

Gonna leave you,
Little sister.

This lullaby,
Skin on skin
Tangled up in plaid,
Another love song
In the fade.

Fabulous!
Listening to Queens of the Stone Age now!
"If only you would know, God is in the radio." Profound... 😎
Perfect line.

The sky is falling / spread your wings
Go with the flow / ride the wild wind
Misfit love / sheer heart attack
Straight jacket fitting / I want to break free.
Emotion sickness/ pain is so close to pleasure
Negative space / under pressure
Suture up your future / who wants to live forever
…like clockwork / the show must go on

I wasn’t there but remember watching on TV in my Live Aid t-shirt.

super creative!
Thanks so much Marinarena :)
Treasa! What was that? Great combo, a battle of the bands song title poetry dialogue. Brilliant matching.
I couldn't decide on which Q to go with so did a mash up of the two. If it were a battle of the bands, Freddy would win. Every. Damn. Day.
It's beautiful and reads beautifully. As if the songs were made to match each other, at least their titles. Freddie wins, agree!
OK, you left us miles behind today, Treasa!!!
Haha, thanks Fotini. See you tomoRrow :)
She certainly did! We’re standing here wondering how on earth did that happen? We need to up our game now with 9 days to go.
Ahh, a mash up! That's a very clever idea. It works well... 😎

Where is this band from? Do they take their name from the Nazi collaborator and Norwegian traitor?
The principal members of the band are the offspring of quiz show hosts.
I see. I got too serious, thought it was a reference to Quisling.
It's also fictitious :) I didn't realize I was rushing in where angels fear to tread.
