The titles are all from the two albums: Cold Fact and Coming from reality. With helpful suggestions from 'Writer Pilgrim by So Elite', I've put a better formatted version on Substack at: https://nonsibicunctis.substack.com/publish/post/144765161
Thanks for your approval - all Rodriguez is good - in my view.
Lovely. Yes, it is tricky to format things well in these Comments. They do have a lot more Tools in the Posts/Notes. Hopefully, they'll get that fixed as more people start doing events like this... 😎
TARA had just won a prestigious beauty title, and part of her prize was a trip to INDIA.
We were watching the SUNSET at the Taj Mahal, when suddenly OUT OF THE BLUE, thousands of miles from home, here on the banks of the Yamuna River, she had a CHANCE MEETING with her ex-boyfriend, who was also watching the magnificent mausoleum, as part of a different tourist group.
I tried not to be a JEALOUS GUY, but he'd heard about the beauty contest and it seemed very likely he was going to try and win her back. We'd been having A REALLY GOOD TIME up until that point, so I couldn't let him ruin it.
I had to do something.
There were some fishermen nearby, so I quickly, and carefully, made sure the bottom of his trousers got hooked and tangled on the END OF THE LINE of their spare rod.
Moments later, he tripped and fell into the river.
When he finally managed to clamber out he looked like TRASH, and had to scurry off back to his hotel.
Ahh, R.E.M. I was very close to doing them, but went with Roxy Music instead. I love 'The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonite', though. That was hilarious when it first came out. It was another one where people kept mishearing things in the chorus! Haha... 😎
Yes, a strange but interesting man and, in my view, great musician.
As an aside, I just would like to find a way to format poetry appropriately on this platform. This attempt at a song title poem was intended to be formatted in 4 line stanzas. I am grateful that some readers seem able to sense the cadence or rhythm but wonder how many are not, given the way the site runs all lines together. If anyone out there knows a way around this, I'd be pleased to learn of it.
What some of us do is to post it on your Substack publication as well and post a link in the comments. When you create a post in your own publication, there is a More drop down menu and there you have the Poetry selection. If lines are not too long it keeps the format of your poem. Sorry gang this turned into SPAWN Thursday session, for a moment. Hope this helps.
No worries. I should have added the address for downloading for free in case anyone else would like to see it: https://ihavenotv.com/searching-for-sugar-man _ It's also available for a few dollars on YouTube.

And slip away he did! Amazing!
Very nice. Not familar with some of those songs. But I'll be looking them up... 😎

And I held on to my BEAUTY QUEEN... 😎

Love that sidewinder song.
Love this - I gave REM a go as well, but abandoned it. Glad to see someone do it justice! :-)

Great music. Did you ever see te documentary about him?
Thank you So Elite. I will try this and much appreciate your tip.
Take care. Stay safe. ☮️
It is great music to me. No, I missed the doco - is it available anywhere that you know? Thanks.
Not sure. Let me look it up.
Look it up if on YouTube or if you can rent it. Title is: searching for sugar man https://m.imdb.com/title/tt2125608/
it received bith Bafta and Oscars awards.
The sad thing is that the director died young… and Rodriguez died less than a year ago. I loved the film. Hope you are able to find it.
Thank you, I found a copy I could download so can watch it at my leisure. Appreciate your help.
Take care. Stay safe. ☮️
Oh great. I hope you like, do let me know once you’ve seen it if it is as good as I remember it to be.

I chose Jonathan Richman for R :-)

I. Summer morning—
.
Leaves on the sidewalk
After the rain,
Weeds breaking through
The concrete—
Behold the lilies of the field!
.
II. Afternoon—
.
Hey there little insect
I hear you calling me:
Buzz buzz buzz—
.
Nothing can change
This love.
.
III. At night—
.
To hide a little thought
Up in the sky sometime,
.
Blue moon—
Sweeping wind—
.
This kind of music!
.
And I also have it a go for REM, but kind of abandoned it before I finished. Here's what I got:
.
We walk
West of the fields
Until the day is done,
.
Green grow the rushes,
Blue
Around the sun—
.
We walk
West of the fields,
Until the day is done,
.
Life and how to live it?
Find the river!
Beat a drum!
.

Listen to my heart:
Sheena is a punk rocker;
I don’t wanna walk around with you,
I don’t wanna go down to the basement,
I wanna be your boyfriend.
----
I remember you —
Do you wanna dance?
Do you remember rock n roll radio?
Rock ’n’ Roll High School?
Blitzkrieg bop?
----
Gimme gimme shock treatment,
I wanna be sedated —
teenage lobotomy —
I just want to have something to do.
----
Sheena is back!
