I was obsessed with Snow Patrol back in the noughties, they played every big festival. This poem makes me want to go read all their lyrics (which I won't do cos I'm too lazy!)
Ha ha! I hope then I have served you up the lyric menu to slake your thirst without you having to lift a finger! Loved them too. “Heal me” is one of my go to feel better tunes. But the early 2000s tracks are the best in my humble opinion.
Oooh! "Don't let the devil take another day" is the line that hits home. This is very vulnerable and tender as if the narrator exposes tender feelings. "Caught up in the wind

Somewhere a clock is ticking
⏳
A dark switch
A youth written in fire
Black and blue
But I’ll keep trying
Crack the shutters
Chased by… I don’t know what
Daybreak
Dead skin
Even touching Dundee
Everything’s here and nothing’s lost
Favourite friend
Firelight
Gleaming auction
Grazed knees
Hands open
Heal me
I think of home
I could stay away forever
⌛️
Just say yes
⏳
Last shot ringing in my ears
Life and death
Making enemies
Made of something different now
Never really tire
Never gonna fall in love
On the edge of all this
Open your eyes
Perfect secret
Please just take these photos from my hands
Reaching out to you
Reading Heaney to me
Shut your eyes
Set down your glass
This is the sound of your voice
This isn’t everything you are
What’s left in the light
Whatever’s left
Years that fall
You’re all I have
⌛️
This is my favourite part
"Chased by… I don’t know what
Daybreak
Dead skin"

Mr writer
Could you be the one?
Do ya feel my love?
We share the same sun
The first time I ever saw your face
Crush
Forever
In a moment
You're my star
Rainbows and pots of gold
Caught by the wind
Nothing compares 2 u
You are my energy
Don't let the devil take another day
All I have is you

S is for Suzi Quattro
Cat size
Mind demons
Little bitch blue
In the morning, she’s in love with you
Friday, Hit the road Jack
I wanna be free
Sticks and stones
Four letter words
Brain confusion for the lonely people
Skin tight skin
Shakin’ all over
Glycerine Queen
Rock hard
Hard headed woman
Ego in the night
Damage, scars, overload
Tear me apart
Wasted moments
I’ll walk through the fire with you
If ever there was a reason
No choice
Sometimes love is lettin’ go
Whatever love is
Don’t break my heart
Back to the drive
Devil’s gate drive
Ain’t got no home
Cat sized
Mind demons
Little bitch blue
The wild one
Savage silk
Hurt with you
DREAM BABY DREAM - Suicide (the band)

Cruel crazy beautiful world
It's an illusion
Dance across the centuries
Jericho
Warsaw 1943
Berlin wall
Bombs away
The promise
Your time will come
The waiting
Inevitable consequence of progress
When the system has fallen
Talk to the people
Orphans of the empire
Scatterlings of Africa
Third world child
These days
Are you ready?
Getting serious "Third world child
These days
Are you ready?"
What a perfect opening couplet, an illusion for sure, that's why I hide out in poetry-land.
Stephen Stills
sit yourself down
right now
sit down i think i love you
everybody i love you
love the one you're with
isn't it about time
nothing to do but today
might as well have a good time
move around
change partners
carry on
see the changes
for what it's worth
questions
pretty girl why
jesus gave love away for free
baby don't scold me
sugar babe
know you got to run
hot dusty roads
how far
four days gone
it doesn't matter
so begins the task
