You’ve captured the summer! I can feel the breeze and imagine I’m sipping pina colada and mojitos at a beach bar and these songs playing! Thank you Gordon!
Yes, Itsy Bitsy became a self inflicted earworm so I thought “Sharing is caring.” Mungo Jerry is a temporary but false antidote. I concentrate on Spill the Wine. 😉
That's very clever with the two sides of the cassette like that. I used to love making mixtapes to take on holidays and things. You can do playlists now, but it's not the same. Mixtapes took a lot of effort! It works really nicely... 😎
Definitely not the same! You appreciated those mix tapes because you put your soul in them… At least you don’t need to fix them up tight with the pencil and worry about the tape falling apart.
Very nicely put together. 'All Summer Long', yes, that was that Kid Rock song that samples 'Sweet Home Alabama' and... 'Werewolves of London'. It's amazing how that song keeps creeping into these challenges... 😎
It is very summery and it is nice when it's so light in the mornings. It's been getting a little too hot here by the afternoons, though. Although I suppose, on the plus side, it is like a free taste of the Caribbean! Haha... 😎
I’ve been playing that whole album all day! Thanks to you! I love Low, “skeleton low“ what a poet! The lyrics are brilliant and that whole album is gold.
Yesssss! It's back! This is a great Theme this month. Absolutely perfect. I had a feeling you'd sneak 'Club Tropicana' in there! Haha! I'll have a think and see what I can come up with... 😎

What a perfect opener and finishing couplet.. But now I'm gonna have Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini stuck in my head all day long!
Yes, Itsy Bitsy became a self inflicted earworm so I thought “Sharing is caring.” Mungo Jerry is a temporary but false antidote. I concentrate on Spill the Wine. 😉
Such a classic!
Brilliant! That's a great selection of songs and they fit together really well. There's a few there I used in my Beach Boys story, too. Haha... 😎

Love the mixtape and sides A and B! Did I detect a Wham! classic in there? Love how you built summer fling story with these lines! Masterful!
Bad boys Wham had to make the mixtape, I could have squeezed Freedom in there too.
Hahahaha! It works well without it!
Awesome! I love that you made it a mixtape! the tonal shift was so clever (and a little sad).
Remember when we used to make mixtapes and write out the song list in our best handwriting, things of the past now.
Yes, on those slim slim lines on the tape cover! It mattered! I am going to dig a tape out now and play it… if only I can remember where they are…?

Ahh yes, winding the tape back in when they got chewed. Those were the days. Haha... 😎

Someone’s done their homework!
I added songs to two Spotify playlists for the poem.

Amazing Gloria, sizzling hot summer poem.
Very nicely put together. 'All Summer Long', yes, that was that Kid Rock song that samples 'Sweet Home Alabama' and... 'Werewolves of London'. It's amazing how that song keeps creeping into these challenges... 😎
It’s mentioned again and again!
Yeah. Especially since I can’t stand him but the song fits the theme.
Oh noo, how come?
The ugly word of politics.
Got it!
SUMMER POEM
Summertime,
Summer in the City,
Walking on Sunshine,
Good Vibrations, Good Times,
That Summer Feeling,
Everywhere... 😎
Beautiful ending with that summer feeling everywhere! Spot on!
Thanks! This was a really fun Theme. And no cheating again this month. Haha... 😎
I know! You keep impressing us every time now!
I'm glad you're enjoying them! I'm having a lot of fun with poetry now, and I've started doing a lot more of it... 😎
I can’t believe what I’m reading!
It's amazing to me, too. Because originally, I only came on here planning to post a couple of novellas! Haha... 😎
We're all Walking on Sunshine today, feeling summery already and I haven't even opened the curtains (it's 7.30 am here.)
It is very summery and it is nice when it's so light in the mornings. It's been getting a little too hot here by the afternoons, though. Although I suppose, on the plus side, it is like a free taste of the Caribbean! Haha... 😎
About time after wet and rainy and cold April, May, June and half July.
This is such a great encapsulation of that summer feeling I had when I was a kid.
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it... 😎

Field song
.
Fields of gold, summertime rolls—
I will not take these things for granted.
.
Beautiful people, boys of summer slide
walk on the ocean, wait for it—
I will not take these things for granted.
.
The last time I felt like this—
man on fire, wild world, human nature
(perhaps perhaps perhaps)
I will not take these things for granted.
Absolutely gorgeous song poem! Never heard the field song or of Mark so thank you for this introduction.
Oh, I hope you enjoy Mark Lanegan! He had so many special, amazing, deep songs.
I’ve been playing that whole album all day! Thanks to you! I love Low, “skeleton low“ what a poet! The lyrics are brilliant and that whole album is gold.
Hooray! Now you've got me listening to "Low" (I have a hard time remembering titles and had to look it up 😉).
That's lovely. The repetition of the line "I will not take these things for granted" is a fantastic idea that works brilliantly... 😎
Thank you, Chris! 😊
Yesssss! It's back! This is a great Theme this month. Absolutely perfect. I had a feeling you'd sneak 'Club Tropicana' in there! Haha! I'll have a think and see what I can come up with... 😎
A pure coincidence!
Haha! Wham had 'A Ray of Sunshine', too, of course. I may have to try and sneak that one in myself... 😎
True, wonder why Club Tropicana was a bigger hit… maybe the video?
The video definitely helped 'Club Tropicana', for sure! People went crazy for it. Haha... 😎
