Hi everyone!

Happy Thursday to you all!

So this week, over at the 'House of Haiku', we've been talking about 'roller coasters'. You can find out more about that here: https://chrisjfranklin.substack.com/p/house-of-haiku-prompt-roller-coaster/comments

Anyway, on to the questions... How do you use sounds and flavours in your writing? Those kind of sense memories are hugely important in writing, for sure, and can definitely add realism. Particularly aromas. Capturing how they make you feel, and the places you associate them with, are what readers are going to connect with and find familiarity in. Like the warming scent of gingerbread and cinnamon in winter, or the refreshing scent of cut grass in spring. And similarly, with sounds and flavours, the key thing that is going to bring them to life is describing them in a familiar and relatable way.

What Posts have you enjoyed reading this week? Well, I've been reading some of the other Posts that were submitted for the 'Upon Our Seas...' project, and I've been enjoying them a lot. It's been fun to see the different takes on the Prompt people have come up with, and the wide range of 'gifts' everyone has bestowed on their characters has been very intriguing, too.

Have you booked a summer holiday yet? Not yet. Although, it's getting hotter here again, and they say the temperatures will be higher than the Caribbean next week. So that's going to be like being in Barbados. Without the expense! Haha... 😎

I loved this micro from Caro this week.

Just got back from a drivable vaca which is a main criterion these days. Living in FL I refuse to fly to a beach. Plus you can overpack the trunk!
