Some of those not so good ones find their way into another in the same vein of thought and it is so much better! :)

You are so right Laura. It takes time to realise this is what happens. Thank you for the encouraging message.

Optimism. A word that just needed a place on a blank comment page. More words follow. One step at a time. Where we go is discovery to get to another page. No quitting. The end.

That's a wonderfully written piece! And so true! Nothing we write is ever a waste, it's all a learning process, and a step in the journey to help us grow and become better. 'Perfection' is so subjective anyway. What's perfect to one person, probably won't be to someone else. The important thing is that it's capturing something real, and making people feel something. That's what really makes writing good, whether it's considered perfect or not... 😎👍

I think that’s the point. To create a strong story that retells something real.

Also, Truffaut said that a film needn't be perfect. All it needs is three memorable moments. Ifyou try to make something perfect, you risk polishing the truly original, sparky moments away.

I have expectations when I watch a movie. Can’t help it. But no matter what type of movie it is, the one thing I take from it is the memorable scene or line.

"Just like you’re not meant to be best of friends with everyone you meet. Maybe not the best comparison." - I think that's an excellent comparison! Just because you may not become besties with that person doesn't mean there's anything wrong with who they are, just as the poem you won't publish is still itself and it may give you insights, ideas, and learning from what doesn't work. As Edison said when he invented the light bulb, "I didn't fail. I just found 10,000 ways that didn't work." All those non-working light bulbs led him to the one that worked.
